Subway is common in Hong Kong. It operates up to mid-night. (Most trip is just about 10-20 mins, easy to travel around in HK) MTR map
Taxi costs around $30-$100 HKD around HK island. You can use uber taxi. Please have the google map and google translate ready as not all drivers can understand English well. (Note: you can ask for a machine-printed fare receipt.)

6. Octopus card info: HK people seldom use cash anymore. Octopus card can be purchased from MTR station or 7-11, there is a $50HKD deposit fee, keep it at least $1000HKD is reasonable in Hong Kong. Most restaurants/shops accept the octopus card/visa/cash, but please ask them before ordering food. Note: you can return the card at any MTR station and get the cash back.
